Waqf Board faces corruption charges
Hyderabad: All is not well at Dargah Yousufain, Nampally and charges of corruption against waqf board officials pop up. According to the waqf activists, the Hundi and office were being handed over to the irrelevant persons by the waqf board in violation of norms.
It was informed that a temporary Mutawalli was appointed by the waqf board whose responsibility is to take care of maintenance of Dargah is said to be resorting to take over the Hundi and office in connivance with the some Waqf board members.
General Secretary, Association of Save Waqf Properties Syed Ifteqar Hussain alleged that waqf board officials have handed over the keys of office and Hundi to the temporary Mutawalli (caretaker) of Dargah which were taken back upon uproar by the activists.
He said, “When the Hundi was under the control of Waqf Board, its income was calculated to Rs 8 lakhs and whenever it was under Mutawalli in the past, it never crossed Rs 2.5 lakh per month.”
Most of the income that should go for Waqf board is siphoned off by the irrelevant and corrupt nominees of waqf board besides few members of the board, he lamented.
A representation was given to the waqf board chairman Mohammed Saleem was given by the activists in this regard. Syed Ifteqar said that Dargah must be protected from the corrupt caretakers and board members otherwise the income of the Dargah will be diverted.
