Show Aadhaar for medicines at UPHC

Most of the visitors are UPHC’s in old city belong to the below poverty line and they find it difficult to produce the Aadhar cards and feel that its causing inconvenience as every time it would not be possible to show an Aadhar card for issue of medicines 

Charminar: Urban Public Health Centers (UPHC) in old city are asking Aadhar card from the patients to issue medicines and it has invoked mixed response from the people.
Staffs of the health centers are demanding for Aadhar from every patient to dispense medicines and few centers have already displayed notice boards in the premises with this regard.

Most of the visitors are UPHC’s in old city belong to the below poverty line and they find it difficult to produce the Aadhar cards and feel that its causing inconvenience as every time it would not be possible to show an Aadhar card for issue of medicines .

This rule is being implemented from February 1 and people already complaining about it. It was complained that some centers were not issuing medicines without a proof showcase of Aadhar card. 

Osman from Misri Ganj said that when a person falls sick how can he remember to take Aadhar and other cards along. Health department need to take back this decision and continue a smooth issue of medicines.

He said, “Several poor people were not issued medicines as they could not show an Aadhar card and it is denial of the people’s basic rights.”

ome local leaders have tried to convince the UPHC staff and said that until the mandatory rule known to every one they should not deny medicines or check up.

Health centre staff said that they wanted to implement this rule in order to prevent duplication and medicines reach to the required public. They complained that some people were trying to sell the medicine outside taking the advantage of free medicines on health centres.
