Mayor, GHMC officials undertake extensive trips in Garden City

Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and GHMC officials, who are visiting Bengaluru on a study tour, for the second day on Wednesday undertook extensive trips in the Garden City to assess a variety of schemes. They include development of tanks, rainwater harvesting pits, Indira Food Canteen for the  poor, urban health centres under the National Health Mission.

The Mayor and his team studied policies pertaining to property tax, trade licence, advertisement tax. They went round Sanki Tank in Sadasivanagar to assess its beautification work. 

Surroundings of the tank have been converted into beautiful park, with facilities for walkers like open gym, walking track, attractive statues. Rammohan interacted with walkers, went round medical facilities provided there and saw Indira Canteen. 

The Bengaluru Corporation officials told the team that three lakh persons were being offered breakfast, lunch and dinner daily at a cost of Rs.10 per head(the civic body spends Rs.30). They said Rs.5 was being charged for breakfast. 

The Benguluru AC made a power-point presentation on revenue collection, IT services, Indira Canteens. Among those present were GHMC Zonal Commissioner Hari Chandana, Additional Commissioner Sidda Patnaik, Shekhar Reddy of Lakes wing, EE Venkateshwarlu, Urban Diversity DD Rajender.
