Special pits at parks to prepare organic manure
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) has taken up a scheme to build special pits in parks for preparing organic manure. It is being generated in Indira Park, Jalagam Vengal Rao Park, Krishan Kant Park, Sundarayya Park, in Gulmohar Colony, in Imblinban, Chacha Nehru and other major parks, where the special pits have been dug to generate organic manure. Such pits have been built in 473 parks so as to use the wastes generated there for preparing organic manure to be used in the parks.
There are over 780 major, medium and colony parks, including l6 major ones, which generate half lorry load of waste from trees and saplings. The GHMC has launched the scheme to generate organic manure not wasting the waste to be dumped in dumping yards.
GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy says that by taking up the scheme the expenditure incurred in shifting the waste is being saved. At the same time, the manure required for the parks is being met.
The GHMC chief stated that the compost organic manure making pits are being dug in the vacant spots of the corporation and in colonies. He said orders have been issued to compulsorily prepare organic manure in the houses of GHMC officials by February 15.
