Team Trident designs ATV
Patancheru: The students of GITAM (Deemed to be University) , Hyderabad from the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Departments came together under the name of Trident, to design and manufacture an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) akin to a buggy and participate in the recent Mahindra E-Baja SAE India-2018 national level competition held at Pitampur, Indore, MP. Trident stood (AIR) 6th overall in the event and placed 4th at the endurance race.
The very same students had earlier, having designed their vehicle using Computer Aided Design (CAD), participated in the E-Baja SAE India-2018 Virtual round at Chitkara University, Punjab where they bagged the top position securing 167.8 (out of 200) from nearly 78 other teams across India.
The BAJA vehicle named “The Jäger” is a light compact mono pilot all terrain electric buggy specially built to take on harsh terrains and perform in harsh environments. The use of the electric motor gives it high torque, near silent operation that is efficient.
An embedded software in the electric power train also allows for monitoring and tracking that is aided with tablet that also works as a wireless display. This unique innovation provides live data such as RPM, temperature, Power Consumption, Power output, Errors etc. The entire vehicle is scalable for manufacture.
