‘Improper tendering’ rocks SCB meeting
Secunderabad: The issue of lack of quality in construction works and not following standard procedures during and after a tender rocked the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) meeting here on Thursday. The Secunderabad Cantonment Board vice president J Ramakrishna raised the issue and stated that there are no pre-bid as well as post bid meetings with the contractor.
The SCB CEO, S V R Chandrashekar in his response said that there is set standards and are followed scrupulously. He went on to add that he would now send all files to the Garrison Engineer to which the board members as well as the Army officers objected.
Board members said that there is no communication between the Engineering and Sanitation wing and as a result roads are dug up several times. J Ramakrishna insisted on a pre-bid meeting with prospective contractors so that there would be clarity on the work to be completed and also the SCB staff could pitch in with their ideas.
Lokanatham member of ward no 8 said that there were several projects pending in the cantonment as contractors do not complete works.
