‘Vigyanostav’ organised at University of Hyderabad

 Gachibowli: The Junior Science Club (JSC), an organisation run by science students of the College for Integrated Studies (CIS), at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) organised Vigyanotsav here recently.

Vigyanotsav is an annual science fest conducted by JSC, with an aim to inculcate scientific temper among school students and encourage them to pursue various scientific careers in future. Over 200 students from 19 schools participated from the city.

Various competitions such as debate, just-a-minute, quiz and science model demonstrations. The students put up impressive performances and the audience were engaged through out.

 The students were taken to various research laboratories in the University campus where they were shown a supercomputer, electron microscopes, and a liquid nitrogen plant among others which left them brimming with questions and ideas.  They also indulged in different experimental demonstrations done by the students of the university, ranging from superconducting levitation to oscillating reactions. 

The event hosted two distinguished lectures, by Prof Kambadur Muralidhar, who spoke about the history and philosophy of science, and another by IVS Chanakya, a student of Earth Sciences from the University, who enlightened the gathering on integrated nature of the sciences. 

The event concluded with Vice Chancellor, Prof P Appa Rao addressing the gathering and giving away the prizes. Vigyanotsav 2018 received wonderful response from the students.
