Ruckus created at Numaish on final day
Goshamahal: Municipal officials on Thursday created ruckus at ‘All India Industrial Exhibition’demanding that exhibition society members pay the taxes owed by the society to GHMC on the last day of ‘Numaish’ and tried to close the gates of the exhibition.
The stall owners were shocked by this act by GHMC officials and staged a dharna over the sudden closure of gates. Visitors, and college students who came to exhibition were also panicked due to this demonstration.
According to information, Hamid Hindustani, a clothes stall owner, said that municipal officials were irrational in closing the gate on the last day of the exhibition. He said, “This act of municipal officials was so disturbing and disappointing that many stall owners felt dejected. It is the last day of the business and stalls usually do good business on the last day. Closing the gates in this way was irrational and they should have contacted society instead of creating panic among visitors and stall owners,” he added.
He alleged that the business and management of the industrial exhibition was not under control and exhibition society members were not doing their job well.
Panic situation prevailed for some time and exhibition society members contacted the GHMC officials and assured to pay the taxes they owe to the municipal body only then the gates were opened for the visitors.
Exhibition society vice-president Narotham Reddy said that the matter was solved with the civic body and the taxes would be paid very soon. He clarified that there was a little miscommunication that lead to the situation.
