Cantonment: Secretary of the PCC N Sriganesh on Thursday alleged that power connections to public borewells in the Secunderabad Cantonment were being removed because of the inefficiency of those wielding power. Speaking after inspecting the wells in Bowenapally, where power connection has been removed recently, he deplored discontinuance of payment of bills for borewells being used by the people for years.

The Congress leader criticised the action of Transco officials in removing the power connection to borewells causing severe hardships to the area residents. Yet, he said it was deplorable for local MLA Sayanna and the Cantonment Board members had failed to react to the action of the officials. This showed their lack of commitment.

Sriganesh demanded the officials to continue running of the borewells in view of the ensuing summer. He stressed that the old practice of payment of power bills of borewells be continued drawing funds from the constituency funds of MP, MLA and MLC concerned and the board. If this was not done, the Congress leader threatened to launch an agitation along with the residents.

He objected the alleged threats by the ruling party leaders issued to the local residents during his inspection as ‘improper’. Instead of solving the problem the leaders would do well not to sidestep the issue.

Srinagesh alleged that the residents of the Cantonment were being discriminated against when rebates were being offered in the poor in water/power supply and payment of property tax. He demanded the extension of such rebates to the Cantonment residents.
Among those present were Lakshman Goud, Ramulu, Ramu Goud, Satish, Ravi, Chandrakanth Reddy, K Selvaraj.
