Gyan Tarangini Vyakhyan Mala- 2018 held
Sainikpuri: Departments of Microbiology and Biochemistry of Bhavan’s Vivekananda College, Sainikpuri, organised the Gyan Tarangini Vyakhyan Mala -Annual Lecture Series for Post graduate students on Friday. This has been a regular event of the college since 2001.
The objective of this programme is to provide an opportunity for students to attend lectures delivered by eminent scientists and an opportunity to interact with them and gain knowledge.
This programme also provides a platform for students to exhibit their talent in presenting papers, posters, to interact with scientists, and to update the students on the latest trends in Life Sciences. This annual feature has encouraged the institute to successfully conduct three national level seminars in the year 2010, 2012, and 2017.
The inaugural session was graced by Air Cmde (VSM) J.L.N.Sastry, Vice Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Prof. Y. Ashok, Principal and Coordinator of the event Dr. K. Anuradha, Head, Department of Microbiology .Dr. Ch. Sasikala , Professor, Centre for Environment, Institute of Science & Technology, JNTU Hyderabad, was invited as the chief Guest for the programme. In her key note address, she enlightened the significance of studies on bacterial taxonomy and the future prospects to explore the microbial world.
The address was followed by a lecture by Dr. Kavitha Reddy, Director, Sreya Nutrition, Director Nutrition Communications, Nutri Tech Consulting Service Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad. She addressed various issues related to nutrition and diet focusing on the health of students in the present scenario.
After the lecture series intercollegiate competitions in Paper Presentation and Poster Presentation were organised. Judges for these events were Dr. ManjulaB., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry, Osmania University, Hyderabad., Dr. Sandeepta B, Assistant Professor,

A total of 114 Post graduate students from Microbiology and Biochemistry Dept ,including other colleges actively participated in the program. It was an educative and fruitful experience for both the students and the faculty.
