‘Jalam-Jeevam’ 5K run held
Charminar: Senior officials from Water Board and police department reiterated for the immediate need of Rain Water Harvesting in city for securing the clean water in the future.
A run was taken out from Charminar to Barkas on Sunday by the Hyderabad Metropolitan ater & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) which was attended by its Managing Director M Dana Kishore and DGP Telangana M Mahendar Reddy besides other officials. Several environmental enthusiasts have also attended the 5K run and vowed to support the cause in the common interest of people.
M Dana Kishore, on the occasion said that every citizen must know the importance and value of water and water harvesting pits. He said that Jalam-Jeevam programme has been designed to educate people on water harvesting and preservation of potable water by the water board. He said that school children were also been imparted training and education about water harvesting.
He said that lot of money was been spent on brining potable water to quench the needs of city and that was costing high for the government. Speaking on the start of the 5K run DGP M Mahendar Reddy said that every police station and facility will definitely have water harvesting pit.
He said that if water is preserved now it would be beneficial for the next generations.
Charminar legislator Ahmed Pasha Quadri said that everyone must participate in this cause irrespective the political affiliations. He said that harvesting pit was the responsibility of every citizen.
