POPSK launched by Minister
Siddipet: Another citizen service has come into operation at Siddipet district headquarters. New Post-Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) was launched at Siddipet by Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday.
The POPSK is a joint initiative of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Posts (DoP) to use the head post-offices (HPO) or post-offices in the country as POPSK for delivery of passport related services to the citizens.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minsiter Harish Rao said Medak MP K Prabhakar Reddy was instrumental in bringing the passport Seva Kendra for Siddipet. Now the people of Siddipet district don’t need to travel all the way from here to Hyderabad to get their passport services and the pilgrims of Haj and Makka,
NRIs from the area and students who want to pursue their higher studies abroad can get their passport within ten days here from the town. Telangana state has stood at first place in best passport services in the country, the Legislator noted.
The POPSK at Siddipet is among the five new post-office passport seva kendras sanctioned for Telangana in the second phase while seven were sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh in the newly sanctioned 149 POPSKs in addition to the 86 POPSKs sanctioned in the first phase across the country. The remaining four POPSKs will be set up at Adilabad, Medak, Khammam, Siddipet and Nalgonda districts.
Medak MP Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Farukh Hussain and District Collector P Venkat Ram Reddy and officials of postal department and others including several citizens attended the program.
