Students urged to follow in foot-steps of great scientists

Hyderabad:  GITAM University Professor Dr PV Narendra Kumar has eulogized Dr CV Ramana as a great scientist and he was awarded the Nobel Prize for his discovery the Raman Effect on February 28, which is celebrated as the National Science Day.
 
Participating as the Chief Guest at the National Science Day celebrations held at Dr BR Ambedkar College on Wednesday under the aegis of the Breakthrough Science Society (BSS), he called upon students to study the biographies of great scientists and strive to walk in their foot-steps. He wanted the students to take the great scientists as their role models. 

He suggested organising various activities all through the year with the theme science and technology-future plan. Earlier, a power-point presentation was made on achievements of various great scientists.  College lecturer Bhavani presided. 

BSS convener R Gangadhar eulogized qualities of CV Raman and suggested including the life history of Sir C V Raman in the curriculum. He advocated allocating 3.5 per cent of the GDP for conducting science experiments. He called upon people to not to believe the superstitions and develop scientific perspective. 

Earlier, Narendra Kumar garlanded the portrait of CV Raman. Dr BR Ambedkar College principal Dr Atmaram spoke. College vice-princiapl Anuradha, physics head of the department Hari Kumar, BSS district committee members Ushakiran, Swati and Satya and a large number of students took part in the programme.
