Admiral Sunil Lanba Visits CDM

Secunderabad: Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) and Chief of Naval Staff visited College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and addressed the future leaders of the Tri-services of Indian Armed forces and Friendly Foreign Countries undergoing Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) at CDM.

Admiral, being an alumnus of the College of Defence Management, said that CDM plays a critical role in preparing officers of the Armed forces to take up higher leadership roles. During his address he dwelled on the national maritime security perspective in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). He informed the audience of the high level of preparedness of the Indian Navy and its capability development plans. 

The admiral acknowledged the efforts of the Indian Navy in ensuring security in the IOR against the threat of terrorism and maritime piracy and to provide effective and timely response to humanitarian emergencies and disaster situations. He also emphasised jointness of tri- services and other Para Military Forces in thought and action in carrying out all operation. 

He acknowledged the joint training being carried out at CDM as a critical contributor towards jointmanship. He also informed that Indian Government and the Indian Navy are committed to promote maritime bonding through various international engagements. One such initiative, he informed would be the biennial multinational naval event 'Milan-2018' at Port Blair from 6-13 March with the underlying theme of "friendship across the seas" wherein 23 countries are expected to take part. 

Post his lecture the Admiral interacted with the attending officers in a free and candid manner. He also interacted with Major General Sandeep Sharma, Commandant, CDM to discuss the course curriculum and the project studies and research work being undertaken by the College.
