Police to act tough on drunken driving

Gachibowli: In a bid to eradicate the drunk driving road accidents in the city and outskirts, the Hyderabad Traffic police have increased the drunken drive check posts across the city.

Highlights:

  •  4,300 drunken driving cases have registered so far
  • Court has given imprisonment to 610 violators
  • 187 licenses have been cancelled 
  •  30 licenses have been permanently cancelled

Ravinder, Joint Commissioner, Traffic, Hyderabad speaking to The Hans India said, ''In order to prevent the accidents, we are conducting regular drunk and drive checking in the various places of the city. In this one and half month we have booked about 4,300 drunk and drive cases and in it court has given imprisonment to 610 violators. 

And about 187 licenses have been cancelled and out of which 30 licenses are permanently cancelled, these 30 persons cannot drive the vehicles in their life time, if they drive vehicles their vehicles will be seized, and a charge sheet will be filed and on it they can be imprisoned for three months by court. 

Drunk and drive is one of the important aspect which is causing accidents, so we are focusing on this and conducting regular drives."
