Begum Bazaar: A riot of bright colours enveloped Begum Bazaar streets on Thursday as dozens of revellers, mostly brassware merchants and business community stepped out to celebrate the festival of colours with much fervour. Right from the morning hours, the residents of Begum Bazaar were seen greeting each other with colour.

It was all that was seen in the narrow bylanes of the old city which is otherwise filled with customers searching for household commodities. Bajrang, a businessman of Begum Bazaar said, “We are a huge group of friends who make it a point to celebrate Holi in the best way we can. It is a joyous occasion when we keep aside business obligations and just spend time with friends and family.”

Avinash Dewda, another businessman said, “Many friends from nearby Moazzam Jahi market and several business associates from the largest fruit market visit us and join in the revelry.”

Old timers say that Holi celebrations have mellowed down in the city but Begum Bazaar is an exception. The business community that came to this part of the city to set up business from North India never miss Holi celebrations. The mood is actually set days before the festival and all business transactions take a back seat as Holi fever takes over.
