Plea to State government to help family of slain cop

Vikarabad: A pall of gloom descended over Mekavanampalli in Memimpet mandal of Vikarabad district, the native place of slain Greyhounds Constable, Sushil Kumar, who was killed on Friday in an alleged encounter with extremists in Chattisgarh. Posted as PC in 2004, while studying Intermediate, he leaves behind wife Sushma and a daughter, Shushikha, parents Boppanalli Vijay and Sharada.
Kumar had his schooling from I to V class in the village, VI and VII classes in Chilkur, and VIII, IX and X in Mekavanampalli.
Kumar first worked in Shamshabad police station. He was later shifted to Chandanagar, before being posted in Greyhounds in 2010. His family is settled in Bidar (Karnataka). Kumar’s friend, Vasanth, of the same village, who joined the Police department at the same time, is working as civil policeman in Pothgall in Vikarabad.
His friend broke down on Friday while recalling in a chat with The Hans India that Kumar used to actively take part in sports events, like volleyball, while working in the department. They recalled that he had helped some friends financially and in getting trained for police jobs. They and villagers have appealed to the State government to extend financial assistance to the bereaved family.
