Gandhi Nagar: Ousting of 36 contract labourers at Siemens Company in Qutubullapur sparked an outrage among the workers recently.

The workers who have shed their blood and sweat for the company's welfare from the past 18 years said that they had only requested the management to increase their daily wages by Rs 20 because their fixed salary of 7,500 rupees was insufficient to sustain their families and instead of addressing their grievances, the company management had shifted them to other firm units to settle the matter.

Disappointed at company's unruly behaviour towards workers' welfare, the contract labourers held a peaceful protest led by former MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud recently.

The senior TRS leader condemned the company's action and warned them of dire consequences if the workers' welfare was not taken care of. When he urged Nagaraju, HR of the company to address the workers' issue, the manager refuted saying that it was the issue to be handled by the contractor and that he was only working on behalf of the company guidelines.

The former MLA assured the employees union to stand by them and help to resolve the issue.
