Bholakpur UPHC in a sorry state
Bholakpur: With the aim to provide primary healthcare to the urban population the Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) were established in various parts of the city. The Bholakpur and Musheerabad Urban Primary Health Centres are housed under the same building. However, the department renovated the new building eight months ago but failed to clear up one-year old debris of the old UPHC.
They are 112 UPHCs in Hyderabad, but there are 10 places in the city where two centres are functioning in the same building.
Though the department renovated the new building, the Tuberculosis and Malaria centre in UPHC is in a bad state with the debris around. While the Metro Rail construction has turned out to be major obstacle for the Urban Primary Health Centre in Bholakpur as the metro construction martial is dumped in front of UPHC.
Medical officer of Urban Primary Health Centres said that it has been one year when the old building was demolished. ‘We have given many representations to the health department to clear the debris as it is causing inconvenience to the patients but till date the department has not cleared the debris as the amount is not sanctioned’. He added that as Bholakpur and Musheerabad UPHC is running under one house the collector has issued orders to look forward for other building for Musheerabad UPHC.
