Siddipet Degree College celebrates International Women’s Day
Siddipet: With emphasising this year's theme of ‘press for progress to help accelerate gender parity', Women Empowerment Cell of Government Degree College- Siddipet celebrated the International Women’s Day - 2018 here on Wednesday.
District Welfare Officer Zareena Begum graced the occasion as the chief guest and explained the participants about Mother and Child care schemes intended for the welfare of women initiated by the government. She delineated the importance of women in human life from ‘wombs to tombs’.
Outlining the prominence of Women’s Day, the Convenor of Women Empowerment Cell A Rachana said IWD is essential to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women and their contribution for the country’s development. Women need to come forward and utilise all the opportunities available so that they empower in all walks of life.
The district’s Lions Club also conducted an awareness programme on ‘Menstrual Hygiene’ as part of National Service Scheme presided by the College Principal.
After the free distribution of napkins for the students, District Governor of Lions Club Mamidala said that the society would progress in all aspects when the faire sex takes the front line. Volunteers participated in Winter Camp at Ponnala were awarded certificates in the programme which was attended by Dr. K Bhavani, Vice Principal Ravikumar and other staffers including the students.
