KTR’s visit to Dubbaka turns boon for local handloom weavers
Dubbaka: Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao’s brief visit at Dubbaka mandal headquarters became a boon for the local handloom weavers on Friday. The Minister rained sops on the weavers who met him at Dubbaka constituency headquarters on his way to Hyderabad from his home constituency Siricila in the presence of local MLA S Ramalinga Reddy.
The Minister visited the weavers association here and aassured them to waive the loans of Rs. 1.5 crore for the year 2012-13 taken by the handloom weavers on their request and also announced the sanction of Rs 1 crore under working capital funds.
The government was encouraging the weavers in the state by providing the subsidy for raw material and chemicals including the waiver of Rs 1200 crore loans taken by weaving societies, said KTR who added that the government was determined to uplift the lives of handloom weavers in the state.
MLA Ramalinga Reddy and the weavers thanked the Minister who also announced to arrange a weavers’ corporation at Dubbaka. Some MRPS leaders also submitted a representation to the Minister who responded positively.
