Civic body neglect badly hits Old City areas

Charminar: Many localities in old city are reeling under the negligence of the civic departments since many areas have not been attended by them for several days. Mosquitoes and stinking streets has become order of the day in these neglected colonies. Despite several complaints by the locals, civic staff allegedly did not respond and public grievances are on the rise.

Some of the colonies that have been under negligence are Arundhati Colony, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Shivajinagar, Krantinagar, Jangammet, Ravindranayak Nagar, Gowlipura, Mekalamandi, Falaknuma  Rythubazar, G M Chawni, and others.

These areas were allegedly not attended by the municipal staff and many areas are testimonies to official apathy. Garbage piles are not removed for days leading to stink and inconvenience to the people.

Similarly, many damaged manholes and drainage lines have been affecting the movement of traffic on the streets. The overflowing drain water is leading to foul smell and spread of mosquitoes in the area.

These areas have witnessed rise in the viral fever and other health issues because of improper and irregular clearing of debris by the civic staff, said a local Rakesh Kumar. He said that civic authorities must also look at the problems of interior colonies besides the major junctions and popular colonies.

South Zone Entemology wing staff on the other hand however, said that regular fogging was been going on. They reiterated that action was taken based on the complaints by the people.

It is informed that Entemology wing staff was divided into 19 batches and they were fogging, spraying the anti-larval chemicals across the affected areas.
