A S Rao Nagar: Competing projects is a top priority for Pajjuri Pavani Reddy the TRS corporator who has taken a smooth entry into politics. Born in a family of politicians and egged on by her husband, Pavani Reddy won the 2016 municipality elections and has not looked back. “In the last two years I fulfilled 75 per cent of promises and I am sure will fulfil all my promises. The team is working tirelessly with a single aim to complete projects.”

During the last two years, she has adopted a government school and took forward the Swachh Bharat campaign. The A S Rao Nagar division has received 13 awards and have been propagating against the use of plastic in market areas.

Among the developmental projects the one that is dear to her is the setting up of 42 transformers and water pipeline works. On the social front, providing transport facility to differentially abled and physically challenged students by providing benches is a move in the right direction is her belief.

Speaking about her initiation she shares, “My father is an ex-MLA from Sircilla and I grew up watching him involved in social service. It was natural for me to get into it. I became a president of Lions Club and learnt a lot about leadership at Lions Club.”
A corporator is one who all citizens in the area look up to. Cases of land encroachment, police cases and quarrels among people are common.

We ask how she deals with such cases, she says, “I always consult ward members and take everyone’s opinion. More importantly, i make it a point to listen to all parties instead of jumping to a conclusion.”
Team meetings twice a month with ward members and a tab on pending works always keeps us on our toes she adds. More than 125 works worth Rs 1840.13 crore  have been taken up and are in various stages of completion.

Though she completed B Pharmacy and wanted to enter medical field, the pull of politics was too strong. She says, “Social service is my true calling.”
