Water scarcity at Kollapur village

Parigi: Residents of in this mandal are experiencing water shortage even before the summer, as they have not received supply for a week. Hence they are gathering around water tank.  The villagers have accused the sarpanch and the panchayat secretary of not paying attention to solve the problem.

They told The Hans India that the water shortage could become serious in April, as two of the five bore wells were not working, while there was not much water in the others. The residents claimed that officials and ruling party leaders although told about water shortage occurring regularly in Kollapurmandal were not paying due attention.

When questioned, the sarpanch stated that the shortage was due to a steep fall in the groundwater level and that they were helpless. The villagers have appealed to the mandal-level officials and politicians to at least now take steps to tide over water shortage. Otherwise, they warned to stage dharna with empty vessels blocking the village road.
