Teatotallers’ create traffic jam at Shanti Nagar
Masab Tank: Two-wheeler parking has been creating nuisance to the locality and commuters near Taiba Bakery at Shanti Nagar, Masab Tank because there is not enough parking space for the visitors to park their vehicles and because of which vehicles are parked on the road side.
Taiba Hotel serves Irani tea which attracts huge crowds during evening, which is an inconvenience to the residents nearby because the visitors park their vehicles on the road. The cashier manning the counter at the tea stall said “people come here to have a cup of tea. Thereafter they sit here for hours chatting and smoking which is a problem to not only to the public but even us. Traffic police has warned visitors many times we can’t help it’, he added.
Swadesh who lives nearby said that visitors park their vehicles on the road, sometimes in front of our gates and it gets hard for us to park our own vehicles. He said that around 80 vehicles are parked during peak timings, the road is narrow and busy which also leads to frequent traffic jams.
A watchman of nearby apartments Govardhan said "I try stopping visitors not to park their vehicles, but I can only restrict them from our building. There are many people who park vehicles on road and seat for hours creating traffic problem in the area".
When enquired with traffic police inspector from Masab Tank said “We tow away almost 10 vehicles everyday near Taiba Bakery. We also click pictures and file challans but nothing seems to change. As of present, the police and GHMC have already booked many cases against the bakery”.
