Women stage protest for drinking water

Jogipet: Exasperated by the travails faced by the scarcity of drinking water, women resorted to stage a sit-in protest with empty pots in front of the Nagarpanchayat office at Jogipet mandal of Sangareddy district. The women belong to 19th ward of the Nagarpanchayat poured out their water woes to the media.

They alleged that they had been facing problems with drinking water supply in their ward for long time and their repeated complaints fell on the deaf ears of Councilors who had not bothered to visit the area to provide sufficient water for the localities.
With their lukewarm response, the Councilors and Chairman had been providing water with tankers which is insufficient for the people living in the  area.

They drainage system in our ward is also in a bad condition with the accumulation of silt in the nalas causing lot of inconvenience , said a woman, who demanded the leaders to provide sufficient water by setting up borewells in their segment keeping in view of summer. No Councilor was available to comment in this response.
