Collector goes on surprise visit
Siddipet: The staff and the officials of state government’s huge flagship project of plantation program ‘Haritha Haaram’ have been alerted by the Collector Venkat Ram Reddy’s surprise visit in the district that started on Saturday.

The Collector made a whirlwind inspection of avenue plantation and institutional plantation in 7 villages of Kondapaka mandal such as Duddeda, Bandaram, Ankireddypally, Marpadaga and Naggireddipally villages. The overall progress of the plantation in the area is good as the technical Assistants, AFO and Pos including Haritha Sainikulu (watch and ward staff) are working well for the project, said the Collector, who directed the officials to be alert in the protection of the seedlings till they grow 7-8 ft height with the coordination of villagers and the public representatives.
The collector commended that efforts of the watch and ward staff who are being paid Rs 149 per day for watering, weeding, and protecting 400 plants each under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS). The dead seedlings and saplings should be identified and replaced with new plants immediately with sufficient water for this summer season and Rs 20,000 to 25,000 will be sanctioned for every village nursery under MNREGS within five days for the maintenance of the plants, said the Collector.
The Collector also directed MPDOs, RGS official’s in the review meeting through video conference to supervise the programme by visiting at least 4 villages in a day in terms of setting up supports for planted seedlings, watered bed around the seedlings for this crucial two months till the monsoon.
The Collector, who hailed the progress of Duddeda nursery under EGS, lauded Haritha Sainikudu Nampally appointed at Naggireddypally village who had been working well for the protection and patronising nearly 550 plants in the avenue plantation to which he also expressed his happiness over being well paid for his work. Collector Venkat Ram Reddy warned the Technical Assistants, Forest Officers and Project Officers of actions against their laxity in the programme. The officials in other mandals in the district were warned by the surprise inspection by the Collector.
