Happy moment turns into tragic incident

Narsapur:  In a tragic incident, 5 of a family including two kids and a teenage girl met watery grave while they were enjoying a bathe in a tank in Koudipally mandal of Medak district on Sunday. 

The deceased were identified as Khaja Imtiaz Ali (41) Mohd Hafeez (28), Khudah (15), Izaak Ali (10) and Khaja Ahmad Ali (8), all residents of Hyderabad came to their native place to attend a wedding. The incident took place under Narsapur police station limits.

According to locals, Imtiaz Ali, a native of Koudipally mandal and settled in Hyderabad with his family, came to his proper Kannaram village two days back to attend a relative’s wedding. Along with his family, Imtiaz and a group of his relatives, who came for wedding, went to a nearby tank called ‘Peddacheruvu’ to enjoy the atmosphere by fishing in the water body which is filled with huge treacherous pits. 

While the elders not paying attention at the waterfront, along with a few others, Imtiaz Ali’s sons Izaak Ali and Ahmad Ali got into the water and soon started drowning. By watching her brothers drown, 15-year-old girl Khudah, who did not know swimming, rushed to the rescue of the drowning kids by jumping into the deep waters. As the three were helpless, their father Imtiaz Ali and Mohd Hafeez followed them in order to save the disappeared three persons by jumping into the waters. 

But, Hafeez too did not know swimming, Imtiaz was unable to save them alone and he too drowned along with the remaining four. All this happened in period of 10 minutes one after the other. Two of the persons among who got into the water were rescued and five of them died in the incident. 

As the relatives raised an alarm, Narspur police rushed to the spot and traced out the bodies with the help of locals and sent them to Narsapur government hospital for post mortem after registering a case. The relatives of the deceased were shocked by the tragedy and a pall of gloom had descended on the village. The locals said Imtiaz family used to visit often to their native place.
