State level workshop on Environmental pollution

Siddipet:  A one-day state level workshop with scientific approach was organised on causes, effects and preventive methods of environmental pollution at the Government Degree College (GDC) at Siddipet on Monday. 

The programme was conducted by the Department of Chemistry of the college in collaboration with Prathibha Degree College sponsored by the autonomy funds of the GDC of Siddipet. Chaired by the principal Srinivas Reddy, Osmania University professor K Purushottam attended as the chief, said every citizen should work to reduce the environmental pollution which has become at alarming level due to the increase in the usage of pesticides in agriculture, industrialisation, urbanisation and green house gases in everyday life which are causing the damage to the ozone layer.

BV Subba Rao, Advisor of Environmental Changes Department at Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), who lauded the underground drainage of Siddipet town, said the pollution management as part of urbanisation with scientific methods and organic farming were essential in protecting the environment making it pan-India. Asst. Prof Ayodhya Reddy lectured on the emission of carbon products, green house effect and methods to reduce Carbon Di Oxide in the atmosphere.

Managing Director of Telangana State Infrastructural Corporation E Venkatanarasimha Reddy, attended as the chief guest of the valedictory function of the workshop, said that industries should also play their role to reduce the pollution by their dangerous emissions. The program, with two sessions presided by Dr. Gopala Sudarshanam and Srinivasa Rao, was attended by Executive secretary of the event Ravindar Reddy, Vice principal Ravi Kumar and lecturers Vishwara Sharma, Anuradha, Ramachary, Librarians and other staffers including students of the both colleges.
