Nizamia college problems to be sorted out

Charminar: The Nizamia Tibbi College may finally get the attention it deserves by the government now. The issue of dearth of doctors and other staff in the hospital has been there for a long time.

The current staff is not sufficient to take care of the number of patients and activities in the hospital. Similarly, the faculty in the Tibbi College was also not appointed for a long time.Responding to the questions raised by MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi during Budget Session on Monday, Health Minister Ch Laxma Reddy said that technical problems coming in the way of appointments would be resolved very soon.

He assured that staff in the teaching and non-teaching domains would be completed very soon in order to facilitate the hospital function smoothly. He said that state government was committed for the welfare of the hospital and wanted this old hospital to thrive in all ways. Similarly, he assured the house that government would also take care of strengthening the Unani Dispensaries across the state. Minister promised that the number of dispensaries would be increased in the coming days after taking stock of the facts.

 There are about 49 vacancies of teaching in Unani hospital, 17 vacancies of paramedics, and 9 others. Similarly, the number of vacancies for Unani doctors is 69, compounders 61, Nursing 29 and 19 others. On the other hand Unani dispensaries need 21 doctors, 30 compounders and 6 other staff members. Following the severe dearth of staff in Unani college and hospital, regular activities both academic and others were being hit for a long time.
