Osmania University:  Several speakers at the Round Table held on “Safeguarding mother tongue in the new state of Telangana” held at OU PGRRCDE hall here on Sunday laid emphasis on imparting primary education in mother tongue alone to sustain culture, traditions, wealth of knowledge and literary treasure.

The round table was held under the aegis of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad.  National Council for Educational Research and Training member Murali Manohar, OU Teachers’ Association president Prof Butta Satyanarayana, Telangana Lecturers’ Association president Madhusudhan Reddy and others shared their views with the audience on the topic.

They expressed concern over the dialects losing their identity. They called for enriching the Sanskrit which is the mother of all languages.  They apprehended threat to Telugu language as many foreign words joined the list.  They called for governments evolving proper policy guidelines toprotect Telugu vocabulary.

Just to converse in English, students need not pursue education in English medium. Telugu medium schools have been made scape goats, they pointed out.  They lauded efforts made by CM KCR to safeguard Telugu from other languages. They welcomed the Center’s initiative to conduct NEET in local languages. TLF president Dr Yadaiah, columnist Lukkineni Prasad, Prof. Ramulu, ABVP leaders Raghavender, Srihari, Praveen, Srisailam, Suman and others took part.
