‘In future, water will be available in capsules’
Khairatabad: The Institution of Engineers (IEI), Telangana State Centre in association with Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) Indian Water Works Association, Hyderabad Centre and Water Management Forum, SRC, Hyderabad organised an one- day seminar on “Water Scarcity – Possible Water Wars in Future” on Wednesday.
Chief Guest, Managing Director, HMWS&SB M Dana Kishore said that older generations have seen abundant water in reservoirs and rivers. The next generation has seen water underground mostly and future generation may see in capsules indicating scarcity but this can be averted by conservation, recycling and plugging wastages. Water board has taken up Jalam, Jeevam for which the experts also need to participate by involving people.
Er M Satyanarayana, FIE, Executive Director, HMWS&SB said that the per capita water availability scenario since independence and likely alarming situation by 2050 when per capita water comedown to 1,000 cum leading to water scarcity. The HMWS&SB is taking all care by getting water for Godavari & Krishna Rivers to meet summer crisis, but it is duty of consumers to judiciously use water without wastage. Also, rainwater harvesting is the agenda of HMWS&SB pursuing in big way, he added.
