Hyderabad: A city- based woman, Reshma Begum, a resident of Talab Katta in the old city, was trafficked to Middle East and was a victim of harassment and torture. After the case was brought to the notice of Ministry of External Affairs, she was finally rescued. Speaking to The Hans India she said: ‘On 11 July 2017, I left for Riyadh.
At first an agent Ismail approached and offered me a Job in Hospital in Saudi Arabia. " And he said my pay would be 1200 Saudi Riyal, I boarded the flight . From Riyadh, they sent me to Abu Dhabi and from there to Kuwait and from there back to Riyadh. After landing there they employed me as house maid from then I started working in the employer's house", she added.
"They use to beat me up every day and there was no food provided to me, whenever I asked them for food they use to burn my hands with spoons. They did not even pay my salary, says Reshma. " I was fed up and informed the matter to my husband then I appealed to MEA Sushma Swaraj and Indian embassy to rescue me.
I am glad that I was rescued by Indian Embassy in just one week. I never thought that I would come back to Hyderabad. I'm speechless, I even can't express my feeling. I would like to thank MEA, Minister Sushma Swaraj and Indian embassy for rescuing me. Finally, I reached home last Wednesday she said.
