Water problem a matter of concern
Ramayampet: Women of R Venkatapur hamlet of Rayalapur of Ramayampet mandal, who have been bothered by the scarcity of drinking water for one month, staged a sit-in protest with empty pots in Gajwel Ramayampet road on Friday.
The women alleged that the sarpanch Ramaswamy, who belongs to Suthatpally which is another hamlet of Rayalapur Gram Panchayat, had turned a blind eye to their problems and also showed no concern of the promises that was given by him during elections'. When asked to solve the drinking water problem by repairing the bore well motors, he has been despising by replying 'you did not vote for me and I won't do anything', complained the villagers.
Even a pregnant woman was seen protesting during the rastsa rokho. "The ground water levels have gone down and some of borewells are depleted, due to the summer season. We are suffering for potable water. But the head of our village is not even bothered to visit our place. Even MPDO and EO PRD Venkata Laxmi are not attending to our travails", alleged the villagers by blocking the road.
After a while, the police reached the spot and pacified the agitating women after managing them to speak to the MPDO over the phone and assured them of solution for the problem. Then, the villagers called off their protest after they were assured of supply of mission Bhageeratha drinking water soon.
