Demand to provide `1,500 cr in RTC budget
Musheerabad: The RTC Employees’ Union State secretary Raji Reddy on Friday demanded payment of wages along with leave to the corporation workers for their participation in the Sakula Janula Samme during the Telangana agitation and provision of Rs,1,500 crore in the RTC budget.
Addressing the union members at the Bus Bhavan on the conclusion of the three-day relay hunger strike by the union in support of the demands, Reddy alleged that the RTC workers were being discriminated against after Minister T Harish Rao became the honorary president of the union despite the assurance by MP K Kavitha that the Singareni Collieries workers would get wages for the duration of the samme. He wondered why the interests of RTC workers were being sacrificed because the problems in KCR’s family and political competition.
The union leader demanded running of RTC under the State government control which should be supported by all trade unions through agitations. He said the RTC workers were able to see through the misleading statements of the official union. Days were not far off when the recognised union would be taught a lesson in the secret ballot. Among those present were president of the RTC employees’ union Babu, Sai Reddy, Trilochana, Manju, Latha Jyoti.
