Demolition of terminal regretted

Charminar: Despite much agitation and protests by the locals and some social groups, the famous Charminar Bus Terminal has been brought to ground. It has been razed for past two days by the civic authorities as per the decision taken earlier. 

The bus routes starting from Charminar have been diverted to Shah Ali Banda, Khilwat, Haribowli and other areas. Locals wanted this terminal to remain. Government is planning to construct a multi-level parking on this place. It is to be noted that fruit vendors displaced from Charminar were tentatively rehabilitated to this terminal some time ago. It is to be noted that multi-level parking was proposed near Khilwat earlier and land was also identified but later municipal administration department has decided to construct the same here.
