Denizens happy with Metro work progress

Falaknuma: Residents of old city expressed their immense pleasure for the State government’s proposal to extend the Metro Rail from Falaknuma to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Though the works pertaining to JBS-Falaknuma Metro Rail project are yet to take off; government announced to extend it further.

Decks were also cleared for the works on MGBS-Falaknuma stretch and necessary survey would begin any time soon. Earlier, CM K Chandrashekhar Rao announced in this regard and later it was elaborately explained by Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao. He said that state government wanted to improve the railway connectivity from densely populated areas of old city. Answering a question in the Assembly house recently, he said that government wanted to make transport easy and available for people of old city.

He said that higher connectivity in old city would also push forward the development in business inevitably. State government has also allocated Rs 400 crore for the purpose of studying the feasibility, survey and other aspects for the proposed extension of Metro Rail. Works on the Metro Rail stretch in old city are expected to commence very soon after all stakeholders agreeing to give their properties to the executing agency.

Ehtesham, a resident of Baba Nagar, said that it was a futuristic move and very much needed. It is good news that Metro Rail is coming to old city and extension of this would be a double bonanza for us, he said. People have urged the government to complete the Metro Rail works on war foots so that a large population can be benefited from it.
