Areas adjacent to Mir Alam Tank, Shastripuram, Danamma Jopidi, Owaisi Hills, Mustafa Nagar, Ansari Roads and other bastis have not been getting the water supply for past two months. In some areas, the drinking water supply was disturbed and irregular.
Women, men and children staged a protest in front the Mir Alam Water filter demanding the officials to address the issue immediately. Locals complained that there was no drinking water supply for almost two months. A local leader Mohammed Gaffar said that when the drinking water was stopped all of a sudden, a complaint was given to the division officials. He said that tankers started to supply the water in affected localities but gradually the frequency of tankers reduced.
He said, “The water supplied via tankers would not suffice for the large population in the affected areas and officials reduced the number of tankers and these areas are badly hit now.” It is to be noted that water board managing director M Dana Kishore has boasted that there would not be any scarcity of water this summer in city. Moreover, several new villages on the outskirts have been brought under the purview of water board for tap water supply.
