Siddipet Municipality bags National Swachhtha Excellence Award
Siddipet: One more feather has been added to the glory of Siddipet town. Sri Sai Teja Slum Samakya from Siddipet Municipality bagged the National award for Swachhtha Excellence Awards for the year 2017-2018 in sanitation and cleanliness among 26 Slum Level Federations (SLF) of total 196 nominations across the country.
Siddipet Municipality has also won the first place in the state among the two other entries of Ibrahimpatnam and Shadnagar from Telangana. The award was conferred on the SLF by Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihood Mission Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (DAY-NULM) on Friday at New Delhi and was also presented with a shield and cash prize of Rs1.5 lakh along with the certificate.
Union Minister Hardip Singh, at the national workshop on MOHUPA at the national capital, presented the award to the Siddipet Municipal Commissioner, MEPMA Director Srinivas Reddy and Sri Sai Teja Slum Samakya President Navya and Secretary Vijaya including MEPMA team.
Sri Sai Teja Samakya Kanchari Bazaar of special grade municipality of Siddipet has been considered with the first position at the National as well as State level in the terms of Open Defecation Free SLF, usage of public toilets, garbage collection and management separating it as wet and dry with the coordination of NGOs and ITC under the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) associated with the Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development with the efforts of Irrigation Minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao.
State Additional Mission Director of MEPMA John Samson, Co-ordinator Sujatha, District Co-ordinator Hanmatha Reddy ADMC Santhishimatha, Urban planner Sangeetha, Siddipet town mission Co-ordinator Sai Krishna, Venkatesh and others were also present at the award ceremony.
