Collector urges officials to ensure drinking water supply by May-end

Parigi:  Vikarabad District Collector Sayyad Omar Jaleel on Saturday said that 90 per cent of the Mission Bhagiradha works were completed and asked officials to complete the rest of the works and supply drinking water through taps by May-end.  He visited the Mission Bhagiradha works going on the outskirts of Raghavapur and Jagarampalli.   He went round the 90-acre work spot.

The works once executed will supply drinking water to households in 1,050 villages under Parigi, Vikarabad, Tandur and  Kodandal mandals 

He asked them to complete the pipeline woks, whose execution is incomplete. The works once executed will supply drinking water to households in 1050 villages under the purview of Parigi, Vikarabad, Tandur and Kodandal.  The 135 GLD water treatment plant will receive water from Eluru. The water will be purified and supplied to households. 

Construction of the 600 overhead balancing reservoir works is completed and the plant is ready for a trial run. The water treatment plant at Raghavpur will receive inflows in April and the purified drinking water supplied to households through taps by May-end. 

The collector inspected the water storage tanks and expressed satifaction over the quality of works executed. He spoke to farmers who have been resisting the pipeline works between Jafaralli and Khudavand pura. He minced no words when he said that causing obstruction to the works would not be tolerated at any cost. He asked the police to ensure that the works are executed as per the schedule.

Mission Bhagiradha engineers Narendra, Padmalata, Srinivas, Babu, local Tahsildar Abaid Ali, MPDO Vijayappa, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society chairman Lala Krishna Prasad and others took part.
