Corporator to fast tomorrow for steps to fight mosquito menace

Nacharam: Local corporator Shanti Shekhar will undertake a protest fast at Patel Kunta Cheruvu on March 27 expressing her resolve to take up a fight against mosquitoes, which have become a widespread menace in the Nacharam and its surrounding areas.

Congress Party Uppal constituency in-charge Bandari Lakshma Reddy released a poster on the proposed fast here on Sunday, Speaking to the media, the corporator stated that already over 50 representations have been submitted to the officials concerned; but they have been evading the issue.

She expressed ire at the official for not bothering for two years regarding the removal of hyacinth in local water bodies. Shanti pointed out that residents of several colonies in Nacharam were facing severe mosquito menace. At least now the government should take note of the problem and take preventive action. The corporator stated that her fast was to press the demand for action. She appealed to the residents to participate in large numbers in her hunger strike.
