Committee formed to celebrate Ambedkar birth anniversary
Vikarabad: The 29-member Dr BR Ambedkar Birth anniversary celebrations committee, headed by Timmani Sankar, was unanimously elected at a meeting held here on Wednesday in the presence of District Collector Sayyed Omar Jaleel.
The District Collector said that the government earmarked Rs 2 lakh to celebrate the birth anniversary while the district administrative machinery would sanction Rs 1 lakh to celebrate the event. He hinted at initiating steps to print pamphlets with episodes from life history of eminent personalities.
Drinking water amenity will be provided at the venue. He asked the committee to appoint sub-committees and assign tasks to them and make the event successful working in coordination with officials. SC welfare officer Sweta, SC wefare superintendent Ravinder, executive director of SC Corporation executive director Babu Moses and others took part in the meeting.
The meeting also unanimously elected seven advisers, including M Anand Kumar and S Bhimayya. K Narsimlu was elected convener for cultural wing.
