Don’t believe rumours on social media: Cops

Toopran: Toopran Circle Inspector Lingeshwar Rao urged people not to believe the rumours about politics and religions that spread through social media. 

The officer said some anti-social elements hatch plots to create rifts between religions by circulating false sacrilegious and hate content to damage the harmony and unity among the different cultures and societies and religions in the country. Citizens should behave with discrimination regarding baseless rumours that are trending on social media like WhatsApp, Youtube and Facebook platforms and restrict themselves from sharing those content to friends and peer groups, said the CI.

Keeping in view of upcoming religious festivals, the Circle Inspector warned of stringent actions if anyone resorts to create untoward incidents and problems to the law and order in Toopran area. People should celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi, Dassera, Deepawali, Ramzan, Christmas in a healthy secular and peaceful atmosphere with fraternity, the CI noted. Local BJP leaders including Toopran SI Nagarjuna Goud participated in the meeting.
