Overhead tank ready but people forced to purchase water
Balsathi Khate: So near yet so far. This is a predicament that people in the Old City face as far as water is concerned. In spite of a reservoir being ready, people do not get the benefit. Reason: Delay by the government in inaugurating the operations.
People have been purchasing the 20-litre cans from the RO plants that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) set up at different locations. It has been several months now since the work has been completed but operations have not begun. Rizwan, a resident says, “If the operations begin it would help several colonies. People have been purchasing water and a large number cannot afford.”
The foundation stone of Hazarat-e-Abbas (A.S.) water reservoir was laid by Telangana Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao in Balsathi Khate playground in the year 2015and the work started in the month of June 2016. The work was completed by Sri Sai constructions at a cost of Rs 1.7 Crore in 18 months.
Once the operations begin people of Zehra Nagar, Mandi Miralam, Purani Haveli, Balsathi Khate, Noorkhan Bazar, Darulshifa, Dewandevdi, Farath Nagar and other areas would be benefitted. Officials are tight lipped when asked about the inauguration.
