Wage hike announcement flayed

L B Nagar: Leader of CITU district unit E Narsimha and convener of the People’s Organisations Mahesh on Thursday criticised the announcement of increasing wages of the Nagarapanchayat workers following discussion held in the Peddambarpet office a day before the workers were to go on an indefinite strike. 

The leaders recalled that the government representatives had held discussions in the light of the strike from March 15-17 and announced that the wages would be increased before March 30 vide GO 14. Following  this the strike was withdrawn.According to the leaders, on Thursday the chairman and vice-chairman summoned the workers to the Peddamberpet office and announced increase of wages without issuing any GO or  a circular of minutes. 

While criticising this announcement, they wanted it in proper form and in writing. They warned that if the wage hike was not made effective from April 1 this year and paid from May 1 the workers would launch a massive agitation.
