Coaches for Aruna, Megana sought

Hyderabad: Telangana State Sports Minister T Padma Rao and Sports Authority of Telangana State Chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy have urged Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to appoint coaches for the CWG-bound State gymnasts Budda Aruna Reddy (artistic) and Megana Reddy (rhythmic) as they were devoid of any personal coaches to fine-tune their skills during the course of the ensuing Commonwealth Games in Australia.

In a letter sent to Rathore, they mentioned that although Megana Reddy is being trained by Greek coach Varvara Filiou, she would not be accompanying the Indian team, thereby denying Megana of last-minute preparedness.  They said her presence has to be ensured as that would be a morale-booster to the medal prospect. A similar arrangement ought to be made to Aruna Reddy, as well, they stated, while exhorting the Union Minister to use his good offices and persuade IOA to arrange for accreditation for Filiou and Aruna’s coach.
