Mallepally: The Traffic police finds a new way to stop commercial vehicles that have been creating traffic jams at Mallepally crossroads. The Mallepally Traffic police had installed alternative barricades around two months ago that will only allow two-wheelers to move around and restrict all other commercial four-wheelers.

It is alleged that the Mallepally road is always blocked with traffic as autos and water tankers frequently stop here near various stores in the area. To put an end to this persistent problem, the Mallepally Traffic Police had installed alternative cement barricades which will only allow two-wheelers.

However, the other business people complaint that installation of these barricades is affecting their business and incurring loss to them. A welding store owner Sheik said, “The barricades are affecting our business because we have to pay more every day for transport, loading and unloading for the goods that we have to get into our shops. Most of the truck drivers do not want to come this way only.”A resident of Afzalsagar Nagar said, “We cannot take our cars easily we only have to rely on bikes because if we use car then we have to take one kilometre long turn to make a U-turn.”

Assistant sub-inspector G Buchaiah who manages Mallepally traffic, said “We have installed barricades because the road is narrow and very busy and the commercial vehicles stop on the roads for hours, water tanks are a big problem in this are because they will not move easily, we have filed many cases and booked many trucks but nothing changed so we have installed barricades to prevent traffic problems at Mallepally crossroads and now we have slightly better control over traffic”.
