‘Run for Jesus’ held at LB Stadium

Hyderabad: ‘Run For Jesus’, uniting and bringing together both the Catholic and Protestant Churches, proclaiming the message of crucifixion and resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ on the occasion of Good Friday and Easter was the biggest ecumenical event organised in recent times in the city. 

Thousands of Christians from all the churches come on to the roads by walking, running and riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, waving white flags and shouting with joy that “Christ is risen, indeed Christ is risen” Organised by Aradana TV and Christian Social Forum (CSF) in collaboration with all the mainline and independent churches, this rally started off in a small way in the year 2011 with 30 locations.

It has grown now and is being organized in more than 300 locations across South India, mainly in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Chennai and some locations  abroad. All the local believers, lay leaders, religious, pastors, presbyters, priests, bishops and heads of the churches participated in their respective areas. Every year this event is being organis ed on Saturday, which falls after Good Friday and before Easter Sunday.

The run will start from Lal Bahadur Stadium and pass through Police Control Room, Ravindra Bharathi, Secretariat, Ambedkar Statue, Liberty Centre, and from there will return to the Stadium.  Dr. Thumma Bala, the Archbishop of Hyderabad Archdiocese, flagged off the run. 

Thanneeru Harish Rao ,  Minister for Irrigation, Marketing & Legislative Affairs of Telangana state was the Chief Guest of the programme. Many dignitaries from the churches and state government  participatied in this jubilant event. The Run culminated in great rejoicing at the Lal Bahadur Stadium with praise and worship  conducted by the most popular international Hindi gospel singer  Vijay Benedict and his team.
