Boost for rural mother care

Vikarabad: To boost up the mother and children care in rural areas of the district; the authorities are gearing up for filling vacancies in Anganwadi centers.A notification has been issued to recruit Anganwadi teachers, ayahs and mini Anganwadi teachers evoking good response from the unemployed.

The notification was issued to strengthen the services of the Anganwadi centers, which take care of nutritional supplements of children in the age group of six months to six years and expectant and lactating mothers. 

Earlier, the recruitment of Anganwadi teachers was done by a committee headed by the MLA. Deviating from the earlier practice, the department of women and child welfare issued a notification four days ago for recruitment of the above said posts. 

The notification was issued to strengthen the services of the Anganwadi centers, which take care of nutritional supplements of children in the age group of six months to six years and expectant and lactating mothers. Also, it takes care of immunisation of children against diseases and pre-primary education. In fact there are 1101 Anganwadi centers in the district taking care of the tiny tots and mothers – both expectant and lactating. 

Going by the response to the notification, 363 applications have been received for the post of 20 teachers, 800 for the post of Ayahs and 300 for 17 mini Anganwadi teachers.  The district administration has been making arrangements to fill the vacancies strictly on merit basis benefiting the genuine candidates. 

The demand for the posts increased as the present state government increased their salaries heftily. The minimum qualification for the post is only SSC.  Therefore, there is every chance of eligible and qualified women will get job.
