Mahila Dakshata Samithi’s role praised in empowering women
Hyderabad: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu while inaugurating the silver jubillee celebrations of the Mahila Dakshata Samithi recently, in the presence of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, praised MDS for its dedication to the cause of empowering women through education and employment.
He extolled the role of MDS, especially in rural areas where girls belonging to lower socio-economic conditions generally discontinue their education. ‘In order to help such students in pursuing their dreams, MDS education institutions located in Chandanagar are providing hostel facility’, the VP noted.
Naidu stated that the MDS students comprise orphans, girls with single parent and girls whose fathers are agriculture labourers, and/or daily wage earners belonging to the two Telugu States for whom education is indeed not affordable.
Mridula Sinha, who is a founder-member of MDS, commended the role of Dr Saroj Bajaj, who heads MDS, in taking a lead in establishing women’s colleges, which nurture and empower under-privileged women. The Governor Stated that she took pride in associating herself with MDS and would always be in the forefront to keep others informed of its socio-economic activities.
